New combination Combination established herein, not found as such in the literature. Based on the statement of record of Dhondt (1973) saying: "d'Orbigny described three taxa (Pecten espaillaci, P. marrotianus and P. royanus) which are very similar to C. faujasi: all three have the same shape, tripartite ribs and a ribnumber almost within the variability of C. faujasi." Chlamys faujasii [sic] is currently attributed to Lyriochlamys (Waller & Marincovich 1992). Dhondt (1973) had considered all three species as synonyms of Chlamys faujasii, but listed espaillaci again as valid in Dhondt (1982). [details]
