Taxonomy replacement name for Arca amygdalum Philippi, 1847, non Link, 1807, therefore an objective synonym. The new name was immediately used for a non-native species in the Mediterranean, which was misidentified at that time as Arca amygdalum (= kagoshimensis (Tokunaga, 1906)) and is correctly identified as Anadara transversa (Say, 1822) [details]
