Type designation Binotata [A. Römer, 1891, Jahrbücher des Nassauischen Vereins für Naturkunde, 44: 135] is an incorrect subsequent spelling. Four species were originally included by Boettger, who misspelt one of them as Clausilia binodata; this would have been the type species by tautonymy. However binodata and binotata are not tautonyms, and we have not researched the subsequent designation of the type species (Bouchet & Rocroi, 2022). [details]
