Neotype C. Vos 25-4-2011:Dillwyn (1817 2: 585) refers to Chemnitz, 1795, who had introduced the name Buccinum dolium australe seu chinense for this species. (Name unavailable as non-binominal).
There currently is no reference as to the whereabouts of the original shell which was used for the drawing in Chemnitz, 1795.
Vos (2007:77) designated a neotype from specimens from his collection. The neotype was deposited at MNHN (coll. nbr. 9509) [details]
