Taxonomy Divergent views on this species have been expressed in recent literature. It is treated as a valid species by Cate (1973: 72, type species of his new genus Subsimnia) and by the SCAMIT checklist (Cadien et al., 2023), as a synonym of Simnia loebbeckeana (Weinkauff, 1881) by Dolin & Ledon (2002: 341), and as a nomen dubium, possibly an older name for Phenacovolva lenoreae Cardin & Walls, 1980 by Lorenz & Fehse (2009: 127, despite different morphology) [details]
