Type locality Type locality: Adanson (1757) stated about "l'Ajar": "On la trouve communément dans les sables de l'embouchure du Niger" (it is commonly found in the sands at the mouth of the Niger) but it is obvious from elsewhere (e.g. pp. 33-34) in his book that he meant the Sénégal river, repeatedly called "Niger" in his time. Therefore the type locality based on "l'Ajar" is St Louis, at the mouth of river Sénégal [details]
