Editor's comment The taxonomic status relative to Succinea is contentious. The taxon has been treated as a junior synonym of Succinea, a subgenus within Succinea as well as an accepted genus by different authors. However, this varying treatment is not underpinned by a phylogenetic analysis and therefore the status of Austrosuccinea as an accepted genus remains entirely hypothetical. [details]
