All names introduced by Matthew W.K. Connolly and Hugh B. Preston entered and checked!
Editor David Herbert has recently finished checking through MolluscaBase to see that all the molluscan taxa described by Matthew W. K. Connolly (1872–1947) and Hugh B. Preston (1871–1945) have been entered correctly and are complete with original names and descriptions.
Interestingly, Preston named three species after Connolly and Connolly named three species after Preston, plus the genus Prestonella.
Key to this exercise is the paper:
Adam, W. 1971. New names introduced by M. Connolly and by H. B. Preston in the Mollusca. Bulletin de l’Institut royal des Sciences naturelles de Belgique, Biologie 47: 1–77.
The molluscan taxa of Matthew Connolly are to be the subject of a forthcoming monograph being prepared by former Molluscabase editor Bram Breure, together with Jon Ablett and Ken Brown, facilitated by a bequest from the late Dr A. C. van Bruggen.
